Merlin Mann’s the guy behind 43 Folders, one of the hot productivity sites on the web.  For those of you who know David Allen, you should know Merlin.

A couple of months ago, Merlin signalled his restlessness … his desire to his work in a different direction.  Or perhaps just get re-focused on what his Great Work really is.

Here’s what’s at the heart of it for Merlin:

identify and destroy small-return bullshit;

shut off anything that’s noisier than it is useful;

make brutally fast decisions about what I don’t need to be doing;

avoid anything that feels like fake sincerity (esp. where it may touch money);

demand personal focus on making good things;

put a handful of real people near the center of everything.

Nicely put.

Add that to your list of strategies on how to do more Great Work and less Good Work.
