Great Work Interview: Chris Guillebeau of The Art of Non-Conformity
This is what Chris Guillebeau writes early on in his fantastic (and free) ebook A Brief Guide to World Domination:
No matter what you have been told, no matter what has happened to you, and no matter what mistakes you’ve made, you can completely change the way you live every day of your life.
How could I not want to interview him and talk about Great Work after reading that?
Since we recorded this interview, he’s released another equally fantastic (and equally free) ebook 279 Days to Overnight Success and continues to write a great blog about unconventional strategies for life, work and travel.
But what’s most impressive is that Chris is absolutely clear about what a good life means to him – and stands as an impressive role model on how to live that authentic, exciting and generous life.
I’d have liked to have chatted to Chris for about three hours rather than 25 minutes. But I’ll take what I can get, and in this interview you’ll hear:
- How he crisis that sparked his Great Work set the foundation for future success
- What Chris learned about focus from the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami
- What Chris’s bad habit is – and how he manages it
- An approach for setting goals that keeps things focused

And here’s something he put out just a couple of days ago, promoting a colleague’s product that supports anyone who ever wished they could run a business from wherever they wanted in the world. I’m sure it’s a great product – but even if it doesn’t interest you, check it out for the gracious and clear way Chris talks about the product. It’s a lesson for any of us who try and sell stuff on the web.
