The days are long. The years are short
I can’t quite remember where I read that, but I love what it stands for.
How each day seems so important.
And yet before we know it we wake up and we’re one year, ten years, twenty years older, the days just vanished.
(Ever heard the saying, “inside every old person is a young person saying, ‘what the hell just happened?’”)
It’s still early enough in 2010 to be thinking about what you’d like to do this year.
Let’s take a leaf out of Leo‘s book, and make it just one thing. If there was just one thing you’d like to be different come December 31 2010, what would it be?
Watch this video and imagine that coming to pass
Let me know what’s on your mind in the comments.
- How did your first 90 days go?
- If you had 10,000 years, what would you do?

- How many days do you have left?

by the end of this year, I want to be able to do something I genuinely enjoy doing for a living, and constantly get better at it. I know what it is, but just feel like I’m not good enough, which is writing.
A great goal. Perhaps rather than setting the goal “get better”, set the goal “write 1000 words (or 2000 or 10000) each day”. If you do that, you will get better. Do you know the book The War of Art by Steven Pressfield? That might be a good resource for you
i’m checking out that book right now, thanks so much for your recommendation and advice! CREATIVE DISCIPLINE, yes that’s exactly what i need, on top of a measurable goal. 100 words seem more attainable.
actually i’m thinking of applying for a job at a local magazine as an editorial assistant, but have no prior experience. its funny how people tend to change their mind at the most crucial time. in two months, i’ll be graduating with a diploma in culinary and catering management, and i’m not even certain if cooking is what i truly want to do.
By December 31, 2010, I want to look back and see that I allowed life to unfold by focusing on the abundance that exists and with the great faith that all my dreams will manifest at the perfect time.
Wow! Making me pick just one…that really helped me focus, because I can think of three right off the top of my head.
Healthier, more fit body
More organized
Working toward a career I love

My wife and i are having our first child in July, and i would like to look back at the first 6 months of its life, and know that i have done the very best i could to be the very best father for him.
Thanks for making me stop and think for a minute
Jonathan – I suspect that’s exactly what you will do. Congrats on the impending arrival
I am in an employment situation that I earn a reasonable wage and has gr8 benefits however it is very physically and emotionally draining. I would like to move toward finding a position I love and can grow in but am too overwhelmed to even begin.
