14 sources of inspiration

I’m curious to know who inspires you, provokes you, challenges you.
Some of the folks who now have a long track record of still doing it for me are:
- Kevin Kelly and a side-project of his, Cool Tools
- Gaping Void by Hugh MacLeod
- UnMarketing by Scott Stratten
- Dan Pink (even though Do More Great Work will only ever get to #2 on the ‘top selling motivation books’ with Drive around.)
- Six Pixels of Separation by Mitch Joel
I’m looking for people who make me think differently, see differently, who have a point of view, who take a stand, who provoke and amuse.
How about you?
(I’ve just moved from getting email (which ended up piled up unread in a “to read one day when Hell freezes over” folder) to tracking them all using an RSS feed and reading them on my iTouch via a great little app called Reeder. Two thumbs up.)

Michael, you are in that list for me. Yesterday I listed to your inteview with Michael Port, and I could hear your struggle with the discernment of which channels/activities will truly pay off for you and help connect you to more great work. From my end of the computer speaker, it sounded like the interview series might be in that list of activities up for grabs. So I wanted to let you know that I’ve listened to almost every one of them, and they are some of the most inspiring, paradigm-breaking inputs I have in my routine. In addition, you have a genuine gift for interviewing, with a very “other-oriented” presence and excellent questions. And I can’t think of anyone who gives better intros — each one of your interviewees seems humbled, surprised and pleased with how you sum up their unique contributions at the start of every discussion.
Other great thinkers on my list include Brian Greene (physics), of course Dan Pink, Bill George, Seth Godin, Fabian Cruse (The Friendly Anarchist), and Richard Beck (Experimental Theology). So it’s a rag-tag group of people who focus on vastly different areas, from science to faith, and from business to heart-centered living. I pretty much feel like I need all of them to help me keep moving and doing my best work in such a fast-paced world.
Grace and peace,
Michael
