Learning is Always Rebellion [Great Work Quote]

“Learning is always rebellion…
Every bit of new truth discovered is
revolutionary to what was believed before.”
~Margaret Lee Runbeck
What an interesting shift to remember that learning isn’t an act of compliance but an act of provocation and rebellion.
Here’s how I consider things differently after reading this:
- How do I find new insight and learning in whatever I do? (Actually, I know the answer to that. It’s to create space after something (good or bad) has happened and ask (myself and others,) “What just happened? What could I learn from this?”
- How have I been using learning to confirm what I already know rather than to cast new light on what I think I know?
- What’s the “old order” I’m trying to overthrow?
- Where are there opportunities to learn? (Here are some useful opportunities for you, perhaps.)
PS – you can read the story of the Southern Cross flag – designed by a Canadian as it happens – here.
- “He was dumbfounded but learning fast” (Great Work quote)
- “We are confronted with insurmountable opportunities” (Great Work quote)
- “It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin…” (Great Work quote)
