Box of Crayons

What can you learn from coaching at Burton Snowboards?

It’s a thrill to see one of Box of Crayons’ program leaders, Lea Belair of the Coaching Center of Vermont, be recognized for their excellent work with Burton Snowboards.

The initiative – driven by the business need to increase the number of women in senior positions of the company – was a resounding success and was featured in the most recent International Coach Federation publication.

Read the article to see how the impact of the program wasn’t just to improve leadership diversity, but actually changed the culture from one of ‘command and control’ to one of ‘collaboration and creativity’.

As a snowboarder, coach and owner of Burton’s soft goods I found this coaching article particularly interesting – thanks Michael!

The comment, “Coaching brought us back to the human-side of doing our job” reminded me how I got in to coaching in the first place and how coaching can bring value in to the workplace.

The five minute video link (from the article) with Burton staff giving their view on how working with the Coaching Centre of Vermont helped increase their bottom line through greater productivity and getting the best out of people was insightful. Worth a watch for anyone interested beyond the article.
