Creating Change: Great Work Interviews Redux

How do you create change? Here are a few ideas from Julien Smith and Jody Thompson.

Julien Smith

Julien Smith is the bestselling author of Trust Agents with Chris Brogan and The Flinch, and he’s also one of my all-time heroes. You take a dash of Seth Godin, a dash of Steven Pressfield and a dash of tequila and mix it all up and you get the provocative, dynamo Julien Smith.

He says that everything is easy because we have all of the information in the world at our fingertips, so our only limitations are emotional ones. Tune in as we discuss breaking patterns, setting fire to yourself, and getting a kick in the pants – how to do it and why it’s important.

Jody Thompson

Jody Thompson is one half of a dynamic duo with her partner Cali Ressler. You get a sense of their style and approach by the title of their book – Why Work Sucks and How to Fix It. Jody and I discuss how “being mediocre” proved to be a powerful strategy (at least for a while). You’ll also hear about why measuring how much time you spend working is a useless metric, and how busy-ness can end up being a death spiral.
