Bio - Michael Bungay Stanier, BA LLB M Phil CPCCMichael is the Principal of Box of Crayons, a Toronto-based company. He has held senior positions in the corporate, consultancy and agency worlds. He works with clients around the world to get unstuck, get going on the stuff that matters and discover what's possible. As a writer, Michael has published numerous articles on diverse subjects including business (living the brand, approaches to market research), academic (on Joyce's Ulysses and David Malouf), and romance ("The Male Delivery" for an Australian women's magazine). He writes a monthly newsletter Outside the Lines, has a syndicated column for various non-profit organizations, and is author of Get Unstuck and Get Going ...on the stuff that matters, his invaluable coaching tool for individuals, teams and organizations. Michael has also created The Eight Irresistible Principles of Fun both in a convenient card format, and Flash movie version. Each principle contains insights and a quotation to help you create more fun in your life and add a dash of fun into how you work and live. He was a Rhodes Scholar and holds an M Phil from Oxford, a law degree and a BA with highest honours from the Australian National University. He is a certified coach. Michael serves on the board of On the Move, a non-profit organization working supporting adults with developmental disabilities, and on the Constituent Advisory Committee for About Face International, a non-profit organization working with people with facial differences. He also works with The World Council, an organization that helps enroll youth in a vision for global harmony. He has served on the leadership team of his local coach chapter, and has spoken at International Coach Conferences in Quebec City, Canada and Tønsberg, Norway. He belongs to a number of professional associations including the ICF, Coaches Canada, the Canadian Innovation Institute and the OD Network. Michael loves adventures and is a firm believer in life-long learning. Some adventures so far include skydiving, teaching children in Chile to sing "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree", rappelling off an aqueduct in a Welsh snowstorm and getting a tattoo in London. He has trained with individuals and organizations such as the Coach Training Institute, Edgar Schein, The Bigger Game and the ManKind Project.
